At Ventura Advanced Surgical Associates we believe that having a support network optimizes patient success. In addition to the program offerings of support group meetings, guest speakers, and nutritional education, our patients have developed their own opportunities to help each other and celebrate their successes. Led by our Patient Support Facilitator, Nancy Kent-Barber, a committee was set up to plan three annual patient events.

The Annual Barbecue takes place in late spring or early summer and features games, raffles, and healthy food. In September and October in cities across the United States, individuals affected by obesity, their family members and friends, healthcare professionals and many others come together and proudly walk to raise awareness of the disease of obesity in the annual Walk From Obesity. Finally, the Celebration Party is held at the end of each year to celebrate patient successes in grand style.
